Sandwich panels, in particular those with an aluminium honeycomb core and skins in aluminium or in glass fibre, are particularly suitable for the construction of railway wagon.
They have been used since the 1980s, because they combine lightness, stability, high mechanical performances and an excellent reaction to fire.
In railway sector, sandwich panels are suitable for a variety of applications
Cel offers its experience to realize, in collaboration with customers and design studios, manufactures to be integrated into the wagon structure according to the customer’s needs (possibility of inserts, edges, through holes or cavities for cables of any kind).
The versatility of aluminium and fiberglass sandwich panels responds to the most stringent needs of railway sector’s customers. As well aluminium as fiberglass panels may be delivered with aesthetic finishes that enable the sandwich panels to be ready for assembly.
For its customers, Cel also offers a series of processes such as edging of various kinds, shaping, painting or adding inserts.
On request, scratch-resistant paints can be used, which are easy to clean and disinfect.
COMPOCEL AL is composed by materials compatible with the environment. In fact, aluminium is completely recyclable.
For particular projects, CEL uses 2D and 3D CAD software for the analysis of complex geometries and two laboratories for chemical-physical tests.
Trains carriage flooring systems are constituted normally by large panels which have to withstand heavy weights without losing stability, since the majority of furniture elements need to be inserted to the wagon floor.
CEL meets these needs by offering panels that combine lightness, flexural strength with large sizes.
Those CEL panels, specifically designed for the railway sector, have obtained diverse product certifications; on the one hand they have been subjected to destructive tests on the other hand they have passed fire reaction tests achieving high quality standards.
COMPOCEL AL, ALUSTEP F and ALUSTEP FN for the R10 application have obtained the best result, namely HL3 (hazard level) class ,according to the UNI -EN 45545-2 standard.
CEL lightweight panels are used inside seats and tables thanks to their incredible stability, resistance and high mechanical properties.
For all those places where the presence of an anti-slip surface is required, including board and ramps of the means of transport, CEL offers its COMPOCEL AL ALURIS or ALUMAN panel with a raw skin on the back side and an anti-slip surface on the other. These panels are highly resistant and are able to withstand also uneven weight distribution. Upon request, surface treatments can be made in order to reduce surface corrosion.
CEL aluminium panels are very resistant therefore are suited as elements for ceilings and partitions. They can be also in doors and separating walls. These can be raw or painted depending on the customer's need.
COMPOCEL AL panel has excellent reaction to fire, obtaining the best HL3 hazard level for categories R1 and R2. ALUSTEP F and ALUSTEP FN have HL2 .
The lightweight, acoustic-climatized panels have been designed with the purpose of reducing noise while improving ventilation. By combining these features, we aim on improving health and hygiene of indoor spaces, while providing a complete system, easy to apply and transport.
The perforated panels come in different colours and sizes up to 2m x 6m length.
